What is The Best Thread Count For Sheet

Having an appropriate bed is essential to get proper sleep at night. Sleeping on the beds that are hard and undone with sheets of low quality is extremely difficult. There are certain aspects that determine the quality of the sheets that keep you cool. One amongst them is the thread count. Well, everyone speaks about thread count but, what is it exactly? Let us get to the roots and understand all the details about what is the best thread count for sheets.

"It is good to know that lower thread counts do not always result in low-quality sheets. From various researches, we can get to know that 200-800 is the thread count used in premium sheets.

These sheets are pretty durable and softer than the other sheets with higher and lower thread counts. Some sheets are also made using 1000 counts, that’s normal as well. There are instances where the finishing of a 200-Thread count sheet was as good as the one with 1000 counts."

Thread counts is a jargon that is used in the fabric manufacturing industry. In simple terms, it means the number of threads used to weave a fabric per square inch. Most of the bedding companies consider only this factor to be a significant one. The thread count is an integral part that decides the quality of the sheet, it is not the only one.

The quality of the fabric, weaving pattern, thickness, and thread count is the major elements that constitute a perfect sheet. Paying attention only to the thread count can make you invest in an inappropriate sheet. The softness of the sheet is totally dependent on the thread count. Thus, a lot of people focus on this aspect quite a lot.

why thread count matters the most?

When the sheets are made of 100% cotton. The thread count matters. This is the general norm followed by all the bedding industries. The same rule does not apply on the single-ply weave sheet. The thickness of the sheets can be increased by using the multiple-ply yarns technique. Most of the manufacturers use 2 or 3 yarns to increase the thickness of the sheets. In this method, the smaller threads are woven together to make the sheet. Thousands of thread count goes into the weaving of a polyester sheet. This method is followed to enhance quality of the sheet.

The lustrous, thin, and light-weight features of the sheet will be increased. Most of the bedding manufacturers these days are implementing this technique largely to attract customers. As the fiberΒ is an artificial one, the quality still remains debatable. Sheets made using linen, silk, flannel, and knit fabrics cannot be compared to the cotton sheets. Normally, these sheets are sold by their weight and not by the thread count. Linen is thicker when compared to cotton; hence, there is no need to use a higher thread count.

On the contrary, silk is a very thin and light-weight fabric, and the weight matters more than the count. The knit fabrics and flannel use an entirely different process to manufacture the sheets. The thread counts do not matter even here. We have now understood the different fabrics and their weaving style as well. But what is the best thread count for sheets?

Being under the impression that thread count is the only factor that determines the overall quality of a sheet is a myth. Understanding the structure, fabric, weaving technique, thread count, and the durability of the fabric is important to get the best sheets.Β
